The penalties for driving under the influence of alcohol have become more serious in recent years, while government agencies and volunteer activists have been campaigning to education people about the dangers of this behavior. Yet many Americans continue to take the matter lightly, in a survey, about 80% of respondents admitted to driving a vehicle after consuming alcohol.

Perhaps part of the problem is that despite the best efforts highway patrol, the odds of getting arrested are still relatively slim – only 1 in 200 drunk drivers will be arrested.
